Today:

A largely cloudy start, but early rain soon clears to the northwest. Sunny intervals developing through the morning with slow-moving heavy showers, some perhaps thundery into the afternoon. Light winds. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Slow-moving, heavy, thundery showers easing into the evening, with drier spells for many central and northern parts for a time. Turning cloudy for all overnight, with outbreaks of rain later. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Monday:

Cloudy for most, with some outbreaks of light rain. Rain easing as cloud clears east later, with some bright and sunny spells developing from the west. Winds easing. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy and windy to start Tuesday, with rain followed by a brighter afternoon. Sunny intervals and showers Wednesday. Sunny spells then showers later Thursday. Noticeably cooler than recently throughout.

Initially cool with northerly winds providing showers along exposed northern, western and eastern coasts, but also a few inland at times too, although central and southern areas may stay fairly dry and sunny. Showers wintry on the mountain tops in Scotland. Towards the end of the week and into the weekend it will likely turn more widely drier for a time, especially in central and southern areas, with the greater chance of rain and blustery conditions in the north and northwest. A gradual recovery in temperature is also expected as winds become more westerly. By the following week, while confidence is low a trend towards more settled conditions is most likely, accompanied by warmer temperatures. That said, some rain or showers are still possible, especially in the south and/or northwest.

The focus for wetter weather overall is more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
