Strathclyde weather forecast

Headline:

Bright start, rain for a time then showers. Breezy

Today:

Dry start with some sunny spells but increasing cloud brings outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain southeast through the late morning. The rain clears to sunny spells and occasionally heavy, blustery showers this afternoon. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

A bright evening with some sunny spells as the occasionally heavy, blustery showers largely die out. Mainly dry overnight with some long clear spells. Chilly. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Sunday:

Dry, bright, but occasionally heavy, blustery showers, with hill snow, spread east through the morning, perhaps merging to give some longer spells of rain, especially in the afternoon across Argyll. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Continuing unsettled with occasionally heavy, blustery showers, with hill snow, Monday. Drier Tuesday with sunny spells, but the risk of more persistent rain for a time on Wednesday. Rather cold.

UK long range weather forecast

Winds from the north or northwest are expected to affect the UK at the start of this period. Some showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, these heaviest across the north and northwest. Conversely, many parts of the the south and southeast are likely to remain mainly dry. Temperatures are expected to mostly be below normal. Through the latter part of this period a build of pressure will probably occur, meaning more in the way of dry weather across the UK as a whole. Some rain is still possible at times, if this develops it is more likely to affect the northwest. Temperatures will probably return to closer to normal, perhaps slightly above in places.

Updated:

Towards the end of April, high pressure will probably be close to the UK with a good deal of dry weather for many areas. Moving into May, these settled conditions will probably move northwards, with the driest weather across the northwest of the UK. If any more unsettled conditions develop these are more likely to affect south with a risk of some heavy rain or showers. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, with warm days but some colder nights.
