Sunny spells with scattered showers developing by the afternoon.

Today:

A band of cloud and patchy light rain will affect mainly western parts early on. Sunny spells then expected widely before scattered showers develop by the afternoon, locally heavy at times. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Some late sunshine for many as showers gradually dissipate this evening. Cloud will then spill eastward overnight with occasional patchy rain or drizzle, particularly over western hills. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Monday:

A breezy and rather cloudy day with some bright or sunny spells. Mostly dry, but with a risk of light showers at times mainly over the hills. Clear spells overnight. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Generally fine Tuesday with perhaps the odd shower. Rather cloudy Wednesday with outbreaks of rain moving south-eastwards. Brighter Thursday with light showers possible, mainly over hills Occasionally breezy. Becoming warmer.

High pressure likely to dominate through this period, bringing dry and generally settled conditions. Southern and eastern areas can expect the best of any fine and dry weather, with light winds, and warm or very warm temperatures. The north and northwest will experience cloudier conditions with mostly light rain, though some heavier outbreaks can't be ruled out in the far northwest, with moderate or fresh winds in the far north, and near normal temperatures. This generally settled regime persists for much of the remainder of the period, although cloud, showers, and some longer spells of rain may continue to affect northern areas at times, and some showers are possible across the south. Temperatures widely near or above average through this period, especially in the south where it may be warm.

Updated:

Higher pressure is likely to continue bringing generally fine and settled weather throughout the rest of July, which may extend more widely across the UK. However, we may see some less settled weather for a time at the start of this period, with northern areas likely to continue seeing showers, these extending further south at times. Temperatures will be near or above normal, becoming warmer throughout July. We may see some very warm or hot temperatures, especially across the south.
