Chance of precipitation represents how likely it is that rain (or other types of precipitation, such as sleet, snow, hail and drizzle) will fall from the sky at a certain time.

Visibility measures the distance at which an object can be clearly seen.

Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. If there is a lot of water vapour, the humidity will be high. The higher the percentage of humidity, the wetter it will feel outside.
UV exposure index and the protection required to help keep you safe:
No risk of UV - It’s safe to stay outside. Low - You can safely stay outside. Consider sunscreen in direct sunlight. Moderate - Take care during midday hours and do not spend too much time in the sun unprotected. Sunscreen advised. High - Seek shade during midday hours, cover up and wear sunscreen. Very high - Spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm. Shirt, sunscreen and hat are essential. Extreme - Avoid being outside during midday hours. Shirt, sunscreen and hat essential.
This is the average height of the waves, 1-2 miles out to sea. The height of the waves can vary. The individual waves out to sea or at the beach can be higher than this number. If you are close to the water, keep an eye on the waves to stop you or your belongings being swept away.

This is the average number of seconds between one wave and the next, 1-2 miles out to sea. A long wave period (more than 10 seconds) means the waves at the beach may be more powerful. Lifeguards can give you advice on waves if you’re planning to go into the water.

The arrow shows the average direction of the waves 1-2 miles out to sea. It indicates how sheltered the beach will be from these waves. If the arrow points towards land, most of the waves’ power will reach the beach. If the arrow is parallel to or pointing away from land, the wave height is likely to be lower on the beach than it is offshore.

A cloudy start with the chance of a few showers this morning. This afternoon will be largely dry with some sunny spells. Quite warm in the east. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
Tonight:
Much of the evening and night will be dry with some lengthy clear periods. Western Aberdeen may see the odd few shower. A chilly night in some sheltered glens. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
Monday:
Many places will have a dry day with sunny spells although the odd shower possible across the west. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
Sunny spells and a few showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, some longer spells of rain developing for a time on Wednesday. Dry for most of Thursday, rain likely later.

Thursday is likely to see some rain or showers in the northwest, along with some stronger winds, while southeastern areas remain dry. Over the following few days, a northwest-southeast split is likely to continue. Where this split lies, however, is more uncertain than usual. Northwestern areas are most prone to further rain, while further southeast drier weather is more likely, with some early morning mist and fog patches possible here. Away from the northwest, there is potential for temperatures to become notably warm by day. Beyond this, conditions are likely to trend more widely unsettled for a time, with the wettest and windiest conditions likely towards the northwest. Temperatures are likely to trend downwards and feel cooler than earlier in the period, although remain near or above the seasonal average.

Changeable conditions at the start of this period may give way to a more slowly evolving weather pattern later in October. This would result in some drier, settled spells, especially towards the northwest. Some wet weather is still possible at times, most likely in the south where some spots may be wetter than usual. Temperatures are more likely to be above average than below average overall, which means that by day conditions will often feel quite pleasant in sunshine. Chilly nights are to be expected during more settled periods, bringing a risk of frost and also a chance of mist and fog patches which could be quite slow to clear from some spots.
