Career background

Jessica has been the Scientific Consultancy Manager since November 2018.

Before this Jessica was a member of the post-processing applications group from September 2017.  In this role she was working with National Grid to enhance short range solar radiation forecasting; developing statistical and science solutions using cloud-based operational computing; and working on novel applications of probabilistic forecasting and future technologies.

For the preceding 8 years Jessica was a member of the mesoscale model development and diagnostics team.  During this time Jessica focused on NWP model development, producing hindcast datasets and the utilisation of NWP model data for energy and sporting applications through multiple consultancy projects.

Jessica joined the Met Office in 2009 after graduating with an MMath in Mathematics from the University of Exeter in the same year.
