We are a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) designated provider of meteorological services, a World Area Forecast Centre and a Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre.

Regulated aviation

The Met Office is an active contributor to the aviation industry, promoting industry safety on a national and international scale. Our tools and services are designed to help those within the sector to improve the efficiency and safety of their operations, be that for route planning, air traffic management, forecasts for specialist aviation users or training.

National aviation services

Assisting the UK aviation sector is a key remit of the Met Office. As a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) designated provider of meteorological services, we support the industry with free at point of use information designed to help pilots, airlines and airports improve their services and safety.

International aviation services

Our international services are critical for the smooth running of global air traffic. We provide data to help improve flight safety and fuel consumption through our role as a World Area Forecast Centre and Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre, as well as looking to continually improve how weather information is delivered internationally through projects such as SESAR.
