International expertise
Our internationally-recognised expertise across the DRR arena enables us to engage at policy level with governments and organisations to share our scientific knowledge, people-centred risk management skills and early warning system design expertise to support both the UK’s and international organisations' policy development and implementation.
The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 was agreed at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2015, with the Met Office supporting the UK government’s negotiation team before and during the event.
