Climate Change Risk Assessment Independent Assessment (CCRA4-IA) Technical Report

Thank you to all those who have submitted information to the Call for Evidence. We will be reviewing the information shortly with a view to putting out another Call in the coming weeks. If you have any questions regarding the Call for Evidence or the CCRA4-IA Technical Report please contact

The Technical Report provides the full analysis for 61 climate change risks and opportunities for the UK. It is a vital component of the CCRA4 risk assessment published by the Climate Change Committee, which is a statutory requirement of the Climate Change Act (2008).

We’re proud to be leading the consortium to produce the new assessment. This includes experts from the Met Office Academic Partnership, the UK National Climate Science Partnership, the private sector and the third sector to provide the most useful assessment of UK climate risks.

The “Call for Evidence” is an important part of the CCRA4-IA Technical Report methodology, with the aim to access knowledge from a broad range of stakeholders. In addition to academic papers, it also aims to tap into other relevant information eg. a PhD or Master’s thesis, conference proceedings, project reports, webinars, internal presentations or reports, blogs, etc.

How to get involved

On 15 July 2024, we hosted a webinar to provide more detail about the next Climate Change Risk Assessment Independent Assessment (CCRA4-IA) Technical Report and how people can be part of the process to inform the Fourth Climate Change Risk Assessment – Independant Assessment (CCRA4-IA) and sharing experiences of the impacts of climate change, relevant new academic research or infomation contained within grey literature as well other forms of peer reviewed publications published since the last CCRA3. Watch our webinar to find out more.

We hosted a second webinar on 17 September 2024 to provide those who were unable to attend the webinar in July the opportunity to hear from the delivery team directly and engage with questions. The recording is available to watch on our YouTube Science and Services channel. It also included an update on the progress of the CCRA4 report to date (delivered by David Dawson, Associate Professor at the University of Leeds and co-lead on the report’s methods chapter who presents from about 27:20 min).

The initial Call for Evidence concluded at the end of September 2024 and will be used as an input to the respective chapters of the report. There will be two further calls that will target evidence gaps once we have reviewed the information currently submitted.
